This is the Japanese kanji "zen" in my grass calligraphy. The Chinese pictographic system of writing was imported to Japan many centuries ago, and is known as " Kanji ". There is a slight difference in the writing of the character for zen in Chinese and Japanese, but the variance becomes unnoticeable when the writing becomes more cursive.
